Non-Traditional Music for the Holidays
By: Sara Collins
If you’re sick of hearing the same song playing for the fiftieth time today, but are excited that the holidays are right around the corner, keep reading. While there are some entirely new songs that are holiday related, there are also covers that have been “rockified” or had other things done to them to make them different. So, are you ready for a change this holiday season?
“Rockified” Covers
If you are into the rock genre, but still like to celebrate Christmas or winter in general, this selection is for you. One band that covers songs and turns them into rock or metal is called Halocene. They have an album on every music platform called Halocene Holidays (2021) that contains songs like “Winter Wonderland”, “All I Want for Christmas Is You”, and “Last Christmas”. So you can enjoy those songs without getting sick of hearing the same version on everywhere you go!
Another cover album similar to Halocene’s is A Very First to Eleven Christmas by First to Eleven. The album contains songs such as “Most Wonderful Time of the Year”, “Underneath The Tree”, and “Santa Baby”.
Popular Artists Originals/Covers
If you are more into popular culture and need it to a celebrity who is singing for you, then this song by Ariana Grande is right for you! “Santa Tell Me” by Ariana Grande is an original Christmas song that she made in 2014.
If you are a fan of Gwen Stefani than her take on “Let It Snow” off of her You Make it Feel Like Christmas album will be a great song to play in the car!
Whatever you choose to listen to, enjoy the snow, and leave a comment on what other non-traditional holiday songs are on your playlist!
