Your Beauty Persona: Siren vs. Doe Eyes

If you’ve ever started or worked for a small business, the one thing people reiterate is how to build customer personas. And to tell you the truth they’re pretty fun to do! It’s like creating a Sim or dressing your Bratz doll for a night out on the town. Personas are what we use to move through this symbol/ reference crazed world. And I think it would be fun to do that with beauty trends! A funny, very 2000s teen fashion magazine take on the customer persona. And who doesn’t like the 2000s!

But that’s not the trend we’re going to be talking about here. These two trends are the cat versus dog, the up versus down, the -dare I say it- brat versus demure aesthetic of the trend bible. Siren vs Doe eyes.

Siren Eyes

Imagine a nippy Fall evening in NYC and it has just rained. And the streets are glistening, reflecting the lights of the city that never sleeps. ‘Tis autumn! The leaves are a golden brown, littered across the bustling sidewalks. And you see pumpkin spice EVERYWHERE. How do you feel in this moment? Layered up in shades or earthy greens and browns. With leather (faux of course) textured booties to match. Feeling very Demarchelier, very “Are you wearing the Chanel boots?”

Andy from The Devil Wears Prada gets yelled at by Miranda for not getting Demarchelier on the phone

That my friend, are siren eyes. Perfect for the nyc girlies or those who want to live vicariously through them. The siren eyes are the epitome of the stereotypical long-legged, rather intimidating, and always on the go girlie. Who doesn’t have time to change her eye makeup from office siren by day to cat woman by night so she wears it in the all day long. And looks fierce (is fierce still a thing?).

Doe Eyes

Now, you may be thinking that those fierce stares and RBF faces are everything you may need to dominate the world. But never underestimate the power of a doe eye. Those beady puppy-eyes captivate more than you may think. And like they say, you do attract more bees with honey. So, honey. If you’re trying to woo that new love interest or get out of that hefty parking ticket. Make sure that your eye makeup is up for the job.

Whenever I think of doe eyes, I automatically think of Tanner Adelle’s “Buckle Bunny” In the song she states:

“Ate the whole cake, left 'em no crummies (so yummy)
Bottle bleach blonde, but I'm no dummy”

And I couldn’t agree more. Imagine those big eyes trying to seduce the cute cowboy at the rodeo. With the daisy dukes on and a rhinestone cowboy hat.

Or maybe someone a bit more demure comes to mind. Like the Disney princess Cinderella. Either way there is no stopping you from mystifying your next suitor when they stare deeply in those retinas.
