Visual Diaries and Goals with Cora Broaddus of @theliondisco.
By: Sara Collins
When scrolling through social media do you often find something that catches your eye? If you love fashion or have another passion better represented as a visual, you should consider starting up a visual diary. Cora Broaddus runs the Instagram account @thelionsdisco which shows off her fashion (and sometimes food). I interviewed her to get more information on what got her where she is today. Starting something like this can be a bit challenging, so read more to see how the social media page you use casually can turn into something worth so much more.
What inspired you to create a visual diary?
I don’t think there was anything specific that inspired me, I feel like I had been capturing my outfit moments for a long time and it just naturally evolved.
Have you always been into fashion?
YES. BIG TIME. I’ve always loved costumes and sequins and glitter and cute dresses, the list goes on and on! There are photos of me at like 4 years old, playing dress-up, putting the wildest things together. This is just how my mind has always worked.
What is currently your favorite trend?
I don’t know if this is considered a trend, but I love that originality is becoming more and more popular. I appreciate that we’re coming into an age of not having to fit into trends if we don’t want to. (But also, if you are trendy, I think that’s awesome too!!)
Are there other platforms you use for this type of content, or only @theliondisco on Instagram?
Instagram is the main platform for me. I’ve tried TikTok and it doesn’t come naturally to me, but I think if I just put a little more effort into it, I could really love it!
Do you have a favorite outfit you posted? (Include pictures if possible)
Omg, how do I choose? Any outfit where I did something innovative (like putting two skirts together as a dress) and it ended up looking super cute is my favorite
Is there anything you would like to be included in the article that I didn’t ask about?
Just thank you for including me in the conversation! I love fashion, but more than that I love personal style and I just hope I can inspire others to explore their own personal style!
If you are heavily into fashion or visual diaries hopefully you gained some insight on how something for fun can turn into a good opportunity to show off what interests you. Check out Cora’s Instagram page: @Thelionsdisco if you need more inspiration!
