The Origins of Fall Fashion

Leather Jackets

If you are the type of person to wear a leather jacket around town, chances are you are not aware of where they originated from or any other background information.

Before the leather jacket was even thought about aviators were being worn in the 1900s which later gave inspiration to Chapal Paris to make their first leather jacket in 1925. While they are known as leather jackets they also were referred to as bomber jackets and once an actor, Jimmy Stewart was seen wearing one in the movie Night Passage they became very popular.

While you go about your day in the colder weather and are appreciative of how warm and insulated the jacket is, do not forget to take a second and remember where they came from and how far the article of clothing has come since the original.

Flannel Jackets

Flannels are known to keep one warm while staying comfortable. Unlike leather jackets, flannels are made of cotton, and other fabrics that are known to be soft and comforting.

The Welsh were the ones to start making the fabric for flannels back in the 17th century. It was the textile workers who would create them with the use of sheep wool. It was invented so that the Welsh no longer would be limited to only using the sheep wool to keep themselves warm.

Although it is not common knowledge who brought over the flannel fabric to the United States, Hamilton Carhartt was the one to make it popular here. Flannels are still widely popular today!

Sweatpants

Everyone knows how comfortable sweatpants are and wishes they were able to wear them to their corporate job. But do you know where they were invented or who made them popular?

In France in the 1920s the founder of a sports store called Le Coq Sportif began to sell sweatpants but intended for athletes to use them. Emile Camuset, the founder of the store, knew they would be comfortable enough for the athletes to use so they could keep going in their sports and not have to worry about any itchy materials.

Adidas introduced a tracksuit in the 1980s which led to sweatpants being popular all over, in both the athletic world and for leisure.

Fur Boots

If you want to keep your feet warm fur boots are the way to go! They were once used to protect people (typically pilots) from frostbite and still have that comfy warm feeling today. They began as a staple to people in Australia and the United Kingdom.

It is unknown who exactly made fur boots a fashion trend, but many celebrities have been seen in them. Celebrities like Paris Hilton, Kim Kardashian, Kylie Jenner, and Rihanna.

Whether you are rocking Uggs, BearPaws, or a knock-off brand, embrace the warmth of those boots and be grateful they are not only a fashion statement but keeping you alive in the harsh conditions of the cold.

If you read until the bottom, you would see that the list was strategically placed to make out some variation of a fall outfit as well. Be honest with yourself, we all love to be comfortable, could you see yourself wearing something similar to this combination? Or what article of clothing that was talked about do you love the most?

For me, it would have to be sweatpants. No matter if they are baggy or the right size there is a huge comfort factor and are perfect for any mood you may be in. So while you may want to keep your job and wear the appropriate uniform for work, do not forget to allow yourself to change into sweats once you are in the comfort of your own home!
